Fixed telecommunications operator Telone has launched a unified communications system called Talk + which unifies voice, video, email, instant messaging, and public switched telephone network (PSTN) calling on the local Zimbabwean network.
The Skype-like product launched in Harare today, is powered Paradigm, Zimbabwe’s leading Microsoft solutions provider.

Speaking on behalf on TelOne managing director Chipo Mutasa, the company’s Human Resources Director Hopewell Zinyau said this launch comes at a time when the telecom parastatal is continuously looking for ways to increase its revenues.
“…as you will see, it is the introduction of products such as the one we are gathered here for which will ensure we will continue to exemplify our dominance in the Zimbabwean digital space,” he said.
TelOne’s Retail Divisional Director Joseph Machiva said the product enables communication between subscribers as long as there is broadband data.
“TelOne Talk+ allows you to be reachable on your local number as you travel around the world without the need for expensive roaming charges as long as you have access to a broadband connection,” he said.
TelOne Talk+ is not an isolated social media platform, it is highly federated with worldwide Skype; meaning users can search for and find their Skype contacts, chat, video conference or call them directly on their Skype handles all without leaving TelOne Talk+.
With TelOne Talk+ one has to register on their website to enjoy the cheapest of calls. Further, this web-based application is complemented with a mobile app.
It is compatible with Android, Windows, iOS operating systems. All devices that use Android, Windows and iOS can access TelOne talk+.
The Talk+ has five subscription plans. These include Talk+ UC Lifestyle – Call-As-You-Go, Talk+ UC Lifestyle 3months subscription, Talk+ UC Lifestyle-6 month subscription, Talk+ UC Lifestyle12-month subscription as well as Tal+Voice Tariffs for PSTN calling.
