TelOne landline users drop by 1.7%

The number of fixed telephone lines has declined by 1.7 percent to reach 252 067 as at December 31, 2020 from 256 356 recorded as at September 30, 2020.

Household and corporate subscriptions have declined significantly from December 2019 figures with -1.3 percent and -2.2 percent respectively.

The decline in both residential and corporate subscriptions has resulted in the 0.1 percent decline of fixed tele-density to reach 1.7 percent from 1.8 percent recorded in the same period.

The Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) continues to face competition from mobile telephony, VoIP amongst other emerging technologies.
