TelOne introduces Blaze LTE sim card

Telone has introduced the Blaze LTE sim card that customers can place in modems or WI-FI routers as well as handsets with the Frequency Band FDD-LTE Band 20 (800) only.

According to the company, the service is not mobile but actually a fixed connectivity solution with limited mobility. TelOne has specified compatible handsets.

“The Sim Card we are offering is placed in a modem or Wi-Fi router as well as some handsets with the Frequency Band FDD-LTE Band 20 (800), hence clients are advised that the LTE Blaze Sim Card will not automatically work in all mobile handsets,”

The Sim Card is going for RTGS$10, the modems are going for RTGS$333 for the MiFi device and RTGS$472 for the LTE Access point. The MiFi comes with a built-in battery that lasts a quoted 6 hours. You can move around with and it acts as a hotspot for up to 10 devices. It is ideal for use when moving about. The LTE Router is bigger with some antenna and requires power from a socket. It is not mobile but it can accommodate up to 32 devices and its more ideal for office and home use.

The service is currently available in Chitungwiza, Kuwadzana, Borrowdale, Harare CBD, Ruwa, Glenview, Avondale and Southerton. TelOne says its currently in progress to extend the service countrywide.

The company has however urged all interested clients to visit customer service centres to check if their gadgets are compatible with the LTE service.
