Telecel Zimbabwe is set to launch 4.5G and LTE by the third quarter of this year as it is nears completion of the roll out, hinted the ICT Minister Hon Supa Mandiwanzira.
While addressing delegates at a Telecel cocktail function, the ICT minister said that they were working against capital expenditure to finalise the roll out of fast data connectivity, as the government owned mobile network completes their network capacitation.
“I am aware the company has already started network upgrades towards rolling out 4.5G and LTE, which will be completed by the third quarter of 2017”
The minister bemoaned the capital expenditures towards growing network and supported his drive towards infrastructure sharing as the best model to save extra operational and Capex costs
“We are fully aware of the capital expenditure as an inhibiting factor to increase network hence we are driving infrastructure sharing, which was formally gazetted under statutory instrument 137/2016 to stop duplication.,” he said.
