The Showdown continues, 24hours after the suspended NetOne CEO, Mr Reward Kangai appeared before an ICT parliamentarian portfolio committee, with serious allegations against Hon Supa Mandiwanzira, the ICT minister has come out guns blazing saying he will not be cowed .
The minister said that he was fully aware of shenanigans behind the whole process, who are but desperately trying to scuttle the audit process to divert focus.
Speaking to TechnoMag, the minister said that he shall be issuing a robust and comprehensive statement on the scurrilous allegations leveled against him , but only when the audit report is out.
Here is the full Statement by ICT, Postal and Courier Services Minister: Supa Mandiwanzira
I have noted the presentation before the ICT Portifolio committee by NetOne CEO, Mr Reward Kangai yesterday.
I am surprised that a CEO who is on forced leave to pave way for a corruption probe at NetOne by the Comptroller and Auditor General through PWC – could be granted such rare opportunity.
I am aware that the Parliament hearing and other activities I have ignored are meant to pre-empt the audit report and intimidate the auditor. These cheap efforts shall not succeed.
In order not to play into the hands of those behind the shenanigans, I shall be issuing a robust and comprehensive statement on the scurrilous allegations leveled against me – only when the audit report is out. I am informed that the forensic audit report is less than thirty days from being finalized.
It seems both the diplomatic minister and suspended NetOne CEO have now taken a gloves off approach towards the matter and now calling a spade a spade.
Hon Supa Mandiwanzira is set to be appearing before the same committee soon where he promised to speak, only after the audit process is completed.
