Star FM’s fifth anniversary comes at a time when Mr Comfort Mbofana was appointed General Manager of the Radio Broadcasting Division after serving as Star FM General Manager for the past two years.
His latest role tasks him to oversee all radio projects under the group. Zimpapers currently owns two radio stations after launching Diamond FM, a regional station for Mutare, last year in May.
With every year that passes, the radio station has been growing from strength to strength coming up with interesting programs.
The radio station prides itself in dominating urban listenership with a percent listenership up from 50 percent in the last survey.
Five years on, with this endearment to the urban populace in Zimbabwe, Star FM’s popularity continues to grow while unleashing exciting programs.
The Tilder Show, with veteran broadcaster Tilder Moyo has become one of the most listened to show in Zimbabwe. The show talks about various trending issues affecting the Zimbabwean Society.
There is also the prolific duo of KVG and Phathisani who have been touring the world pushing the Star FM brand. The emissaries have been to UK and South Africa where they showed Zimbabweans in those countries what they are made of.
It was around this time last year that something suddenly changed on Star FM’s 12pm to 3pm show, the T.X.O. A new voice was added. As with the likes of Phathisani and KVG, a new talent had been unearthed at “the home of stars”.
Meanwhile, the Star FM intends to celebrate its fifth birthday tomorrow in style as they invited Jamaican reggae sensation Anthony B to spoil not only them but the listeners as well. Anthony B will be supported by Winky D, Soul Jah Love and Jah Prayzah at this massive party.
Zimpapers’ broadcasting division’s revenue during the year ended 31 December 2016 was 27, 3 percent up to $4, 3 million from $3, 4 in the previous period.
