Star FM, Zimbabwe’s first digital radio station will make history by becoming the first local radio to broadcast live from the United Kingdom on Sunday until next week Wednesday. Star FM is a subsidiary of Zimpapers who are becoming the chief pacesetters in the industry after recently launching Diamond FM, a new station that has started broadcasting from Mutare.
The move is a bold statement from the Star FM team as they continue their drive to take radio to the people, an initiative they began few years back with local outdoor shows including outside their own radio station before spreading to various parts of the country which was preceded by the successful South African broadcast.

It goes without any doubt that the most popular Djs from the station presenters Kudzai Violet Gwara, better known as KVG and Phathisani Sibanda of the famous 326 Xpress show will broadcast from various cities, starting with Dunstable at the Family Barbeques hosted by UK based music promoter King Alfred.
After this encounter, they will proceed to Luton, London and Reading.
The idea behind the broadcast is to thank Star FM diasporian listeners for voting the station the best Zimbabwe Media Company at the Zimbabwe Achievers 2015 Awards held in London last month. Various partners like South Africa Airways, British Council and Rayclash Trading have also come on board to join Star FM on the ground breaking broadcast.
In an interview, Star FM programming manager Napoleon “Napstar” Nyanhi said:
“The station has been in a celebratory mode since November 2015 when accolades started flooding.
“Our trophy cabinet culminating in the ZAMPS survey endorsing us (Star FM) as the number one radio station in Zimbabwe.
“This trip is a major milestone in our celebratory drive for our fourth anniversary.
“We intend to meet our valued listeners in England and give them a taste of home through the authentically Zimbabwean radio station show, the 326 Xpress hosted KVG and Phathisani.”
“KVG and Phathisani will also conduct cultural exchange activities organized by the British Council.”
Star FM general manager Comfort Mbofana, Napstar and Weddington Mbozi are also part of the team travelling to the UK.
