WhatsApp users with Android version 2.3 devices have been given a three-year grace period as the application will continue running in these phones until 2020.
WhatsApp is one of the most used mobile messaging applications out there, having not less than 1.2 billion monthly active users. This comes as a reprieve to most Zimbabweans with phones using Android 2.3.
The company on Wednesday announced that older versions of Android will continue running the application till 2020 whose support was supposed to end this year in December.
The Facebook owned company also gave Blackberry devices until the end of this year to cut support of the application. WhatsApp had announced it would pull the plug off Blackberry OS this month end after stating the application would be cut off in December last year.
