The Zimbabwean president Cde Robert Mugabe yesterday handed over an award trophy to Econet Wireless Zimbabwe , for scooping the best exhibitor`s stand under the ICT category for the currently on-going Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF 2014)
Representing Econet, Mr Kwanele Ngwenya, the CEO for Steward bank, an Econet subsidiary received the trophy from the head of state in Bulawayo, ZITF grounds, marking a special moment for the telecoms company.

The Econet team manning the stand could not hide their ecstatic mood as they cheerfully lifted the trophy in celebration of the award they greatly pride.
Econet Wireless had probably the biggest stand in total area coverage with all their subsidiary under one house including the Ecocash brand, the Steward bank and many other services they have occupying the full western wing corner which kept the guests thronging their arena.
Their stand was also well designed and structured with classic touch managing to successfully keep all their various brands virtually separated by simply laid cubicles and dividers plus some freebies leaving the guests yearning for more.
Econet Wireless scooped the 2014 Zimbabwe International Trade Fair Best ICT Display earlier on today.
In a statement to Techno Mag, the mobile company said that the stand display design was inspired by the Econet Experience which is powered by innovation, market leadership and Econet activities in the community. The stand was also set up to be more spacious this year than in previous years so that our customers can enjoy full interaction with our various products and services.
This year, the Econet stand also featured the company’s new market offerings which include EcoFarmer and EcoSchool.
The two new offerings have placed the company at the forefront of agricultural and Educational modernization and have received a lot of commendation locally, regionally and internationally.
Econet subsidiaries Liquid Telecoms and recently launched financial services arm Steward bank also completed the overall Econet Experience which brings convenience and functionality to its customers
Other major attractions at the Econet Stand including the gaming zone which featured the popular Nintendo Wii.
The mobile company said, “We are always committed to making a real contribution to the quality of life of our customers and this exhibited by how we always endeavor to bring the best Econet Experience to them at all times.
In the same category, Telone came second, with their exquisite design stand which so unique and outstanding but smaller in area size compared to Econet, probably the main reson why Econet scooped the award.
Potraz, the telecommunication regulator came third position on the race . Ironically Netone was completely missing from the list while their new building was the talk of the town, probably the adjudicators were using unique rules.
A total of 14 categories across industry and commerce and agriculture were being recognized and awarded for the input they forwarded towards this year`s Zimbabwe`s International Trade Fair 2014 five day event.
President Mugabe said that those who were not mentioned as winners should not dismay but rather congratulate themselves for making it all the way to the prestigious exhibition while they lift the nation`s flag high.
