PC TIP OF THE DAY: Hidding Windows 7 User Accounts

If you want to create a User Account that will not be shown to others then follow the steps below. The purpose of creating multiple user accounts on the same computer is to enable more than one person to use the computer. Usually, when you open your computer it welcomes you with a Windows Explorer Screen and you can log in to your account.
How to make a hidden user account
Create a new user account:
Step 1: Go to the control panel and double click on user accounts.
Step 2: Click on create new account and through the instructions.
Step 3: Click on Create account. Then the new account will be created.
Making the account hidden:
Now we have created a user account. Just follow the below instructions to make the account hidden. It includes editing your Windows Registry. You should work carefully because if you make a small mistake you get a big problem on your computer. Now let’s get started.
  • Click on start and click on Run or you can start it by pressing the Win-key + R on the Keyboard.
  • Type in “regedit” to open the Windows Registry Editor.
  • Now browse the following location in Windows Registry
  • ‘HEKY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\SpecialAccounts\UserList\’.
  •  Right click on the right side, go to new and Click on DWORD value. Rename the existing account.

 

That’s it. If you want to check  the process go to the control panel and double click the USER ACCOUNTS, whether the account is listed there.
