Local artistes are finally getting recognition in sectors outside entertainment as their influence continues to spread.
In a case of science meets arts, the Ministry of Science and Technology has engaged musicians in a campaign that is aimed at raising awareness on emerging Nano Technology. ZimDancehall musicians Winky D,Mafrique, Jah Prazah, Alexio Kawara, PahChihera,Amara Brown,John Muyambo and Gede from Ngwenya brothers, are expected to pen a song theme for the scientific innovations
Speaking during the first consultative meeting with artistes on last week, head of the project Dr Chiedza Maponga acknowledged the importance of complimenting the campaign with music. ’We are using various methods to disseminate information on Nano Technology and we feel that music is also an important tool. Meetings like these will be used to translate the scientific language to the artistes so that they may be at better position to educate the nation,” he said
He added that just like Winky D’s controversial “Mafira Kureva” that provoked the issues of substances abuse, the ministry was hoping the Nano Technology song would be entertaining and educative.
