#MondayBlues: Heads Roll At ZESA, 9 fired, dozens demoted


Heads are rolling at Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA) Holdings  upon the completion of an internal forensic audit into the firm’s business dealings with various companies, TechnoMag can exclusively reveal.

According to information gathered by this publication, there are a number of allegations leveled against the affected individuals.

The disciplinary action results of matters that went before hearings after recommendations of the forensic audit saw nine executives dismissed while others were either demoted, acquitted or redeployed.

Among the fired executives include OPS Director ZPC Joshua Chirikuutsi, Finance Director ZPC Hubert Chiwara, ZETDC Finance Director Thokozani Dhliwayo, ZETDC Managing Director Julian Chinembiri, ZENT Managing Director Tererai Mutasa, ZENT Technical director Dafana and Tirivangani.

Those said to be on suspension pending investigations include Zesa head corporate services Mr Rufaro Pasipanodya, Mr Obson Matunja from the audit department and Zesa public relations manager Mr Fullard Gwasira, while three managers were suspended on the 2nd of July 2020 after displaying gross insubordination.

The three are accused of abusing company cars or a potential fuel coupon scam involving $18 000.

ZPC general manager Mr Washington Mareya has been given three months notice.

The company’s Public Relations Officer Prisca Utete confirmed the latest development to TechnoMag though she refused to provide more details.

However, TechnoMag is in possession of leaked minutes that prompted to the latest decisions.

J Chirikuutsi (OPS Director ZPC) – dismissed 20/03/2020
H Chiwara (Finance Director ZPC) – dismissed 30/03/2020
W. Mareya (Gen. Manager ZPC projects) – Given three months notice for dismissal
J Chinembiri (MD ZETDC) – dismissed 30/03/2020
T Dhliwayo (Finance Director) ZETDC – Dismissed 30/03/2020

Those said to be on suspension pending dismissal include Pasipanodya,
Matunja and Gwasira, while three managers were suspended on the 2nd of July 2020 after displaying gross insubordination.

Eng. Chikuri (Technical Director ZPC) – demoted by one grade
R Katsande (Commercial Manager ZETDC and Acting MD ZETDC) – demoted to GM post most probably Southern Region but still engaging
Choda (Transmission Director) – Acquitted and back at work
Shereni (Revenue Assurance) – demoted
Mutasa (MD Zent) – dismissed 20/04/2020
Tichivangana (Zent) – dismissed 18/04/2020
Dafana (Technical director Zent) – dismissed 20/04/2020
Mharadze ZPC – acquitted
Mazana ZETDC – matter yet to be finalised
Chisina – acquitted
C. Chendume – matter yet to be finalized
Muzavazi – penalised by removal of some allowances
P Utete – issued with a very strong warning
Chengeta – acquitted

Chikuri ZPC moved from ZPC head office to Byo power station as Power plant manager
Tshuma moved to Hwange power station as Acting GM
Katsande to be Southern region GM but however yet to be finalised as they are still engaging
Maswera to be Acting MD ZPC
Chiuraise to be Projects manager ZPC h/o
Chinaka moved from western region GM to be acting MD ZETDC
Chibasa Flo to be Acting head corporate services replacing Pasi
R. Marandu to be Acting head audit and risk
P. Utete to be Acting group stakeholders manager replacing Gwasira
Gurupira GM eastern now moving to Harare region
Munodawafa – to be moved to a region they will agree
Dadi – to be moved to a region they will agree
Mugumbati moved from NTC to Head office
Makuvaza moved from Hwange to NTC

“The EC will engage Human resource managers in coming week and announce their redeployment and others to be disciplined as they have cases in forensic audit. This to include all other managers at regional level. In essence all these moves and actions should be completed by 31/07/2020”
