Mobile Money and Digital Payments Conference Preps Gather Momentum

Preparations to the third edition of the Mobile money and Digital Payments Annual Conference are in full throttle with organisers saying speakers for the event have confirmed to share their expertise on various topics.

The conference organised by Oxlink Capital running under the theme Towards a cashless society will be held on August 3.

“All the key speakers drawn from the doyens of the Telecoms, Banking,  Insurance and ICT industries have confirmed  to share experiences  and insights on the most topical issues affecting the digital payments and mobile money ecosystem  in Zimbabwe,” said Brains Muchemwa.       

He said the conference will bring navigate around issues to do with increasing card fraud among others.

“It will as well evaluate the micro insurance opportunities in the mobile money ecosystem,” he said.

Matters to deal with regulating bank charges and mobile money tariffs as well as balancing  balancing regulation and innovation will be discussed.

According to the organisers the case of converged licensing framework, virtual network operators, and mobile virtual network operators-Progress, challenges and opportunities will be looked into.

Role of micro insurance in financial inclusion together with cash shortages-causes, challenges and opportunities for mobile money, agent banking and internet banking are other cases to be evaluated at the conference.

ICT, Postal and Courier Services Minister Supa Mandiwanzira will officiate the conference/ Other speakers at the event include NetOne Acting CEO Brian Mutandiro, Telecash Head of Mobile financial services Violet Masunda, Zimswitch CEO Cyril Nyatsanza, Consumer Council of Zimbabwe Executive Director Rose Siyachitema. Other named speakers include Barclays Zimbabwe Managing Director George Guvamatanga, Cellulant Zimbabwe head Angela Centra to mention but the few.
