We are now in day two of the African Council of Distance Education, currently happening from Victoria falls, Elephant Hills Hotel Zimbabwe. This is the fourth African gathering and Zimbabwe is honounered to be the forth host of the event, proudly hosted by the Zimbabwe Open University, ZOU
Technology infrastructure development has been identified as a major component towards enhancement of education. A rather new phenomenon in Africa, MOOCS has been identified as a new strategy to implement across Africa, the (outgoing) president of ACDE Proffessor Mbwette Speaks.
Speaking during the official opening, Permanent secretary in the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development) – Dr Washington T Mbizvo said African countries should harness the opportunities offered by technology to improve and facilitate education.
From government perspectives, they have made access to ICTs imperative and a high priority.
