Huawei Partners Zim Gvt, Universities For Talent Development.

Telecommunications giant and network solutions provider Huawei has partnered the Zimbabwean government through a program that will see thousands of students participating in a talent development program.

Through a program dubbed Zimbabwe-Huawei 2019-2020 ICT Competition which will see 28 000 participants from over 14 African countries who then will compete for scholarships at China’s top technology universities, Huawei is giving back to the community.

The outstanding students in Zimbabwe will battle it out in South Africa before finally representing the continent in the final contest in China.

Also at the same event, Huawei signed a memorandum of understanding with the University of Zimbabwe, Midlands State University, Arrupe Jesuit, TelOne Centre For Learning, Zimbabwe Open University and Catholic University.

Minister of ICT Postal and Courier Services Hon Jenfan Muswere said Huawei ICT Competition launched today is in line with the ministerial policy on growth and innovation aimed at encouraging participation and nurturing talent and skills of Zimbabwean youths in ICT practice.

Managing Director of Huawei Zimbabwe Jason Shao said the synergy with tertiary institutions will promote operations and build an international ICT exchange platform that will benefit both students and lecturers.
