After years of online wilderness, one of Zimbabwe`s most followed and supported football club finally goes cyber and we give thumbs up to the management for such a move.
Although the move came a bit late, we know they have been technically loosing out on extra potential revenue income.
Imagine if Highlanders had a social network platform what would be its monthly revenue in terms of the number of its subscribers. This can only be understood by technological advocates who understand the value brought about by a significant following.
I don’t have to chasten them for their late website launch but would like to welcome them to the real world of technology. Appreciating technology is the best thing a person can ever do and that’s what Highlanders Football Club have shown us, in some other countries technology has become a culture and we also need to do that as everything is hinged on it.
When football clubs are finally joining the technological bandwagon, it goes to show how technology is being appreciated in Zimbabwe.
The website contains sections that include News, Gallery, The Team, Sms Section and the Coach’s corner. The website is imbued with everything that you might need to know about the club, it also have a calendar which shows their fixtures, at the center of the website is a slide show of pictured events, games and other staff that pertains to soccer. In a nutshell it contains the club’s data.
Highlanders has set pace for other football clubs to follow suit, soccer, as now a proper business venture, clubs need to put up a professional face, like having a facebook page, a twitter account, YouTube etc so that events, fixtures and any other information pertains to the club can be easily accessed by its supporters without visiting their offices or calling them. A website is a find it yourself platform
What Highlanders has done shows their seriousness in terms of improving the standards of local soccer as a business and social sport in Zimbabwe. We applaud them for this technological appreciation move.
We are not quite sure how many more other soccer clubs are online and we fully appreciate the work also being done by local players to design local football apps.
Kudos to all the combined forces.
