High Court Sets Aside 2% Electronic Tax

High Court Judge, Justice Zhou has set aside Statutory Instrument 205 of 2018 on the 2% electronic transaction tax, that came to effect last year in October after being implemented by the Minister of Finance Profesor Mthuli Ncube.

The case was argued by the Former Minister of Finance Tendai Biti who has been maintaining that the tax was illegal as it violated an act of Parliament and the proper channel was to have the bill debated and passed in the National Assembly before being made law.

These developments were announced earlier today through a Tweet from the ZLHR Lawyers.

The electronic tax has been unpopular amongst Zimbabweans who felt that they were being robbed of their money.
