FTTH Training Workshops in Africa

Many African operators and service providers have come to the realization that for Africa to prosper from ICT, mobile broadband alone will not meet requirements for all applications. Wireline broadband, including fiber to the home (FTTH), will have to be deployed in addition to mobile and other wireless technologies.

A number of providers throughout the continent are rolling out FTTH in different niche markets. In order to support this development, ICT Africa has developed a two day training course in fiber to the home. The course covers all the essential aspects of FTTH required by network planning managers, engineers and technicians.

The course also prepares participants to take and pass the Fiber to the Home Council’s Certified Fiber to the Home Professional (CFHP) exam. Certification as a CFHP indicates a professional level of technical competence in fiber to the home technologies. Certification consists of demonstrating knowledge and familiarity with FTTH architecture, network design, deployment technology and operational skills.

The certification is taken separately on the Council’s website. Instructions on how to take the exam will be provided during training or by visiting the Fiber to the Home Council’s Website.
