Civil Servants can now convert their COVID-19 Allowances via WhatsApp, email

FBC Bank Limited has technically tried to rectify the civil servants COVID-19 allowance woes after announcing that they can now convert their allowances from USD$ to local currency from the comfort of their houses and offices.

Government in June announced a USD$75 COVID-19 Allowance to civil servants, however, the irony is that the money can not be accessed in hard cash but in local currency at the prevailing official rate.

Beneficiaries would need to visit their banks for transactions.

However, FBC Bank Limited clients can now complete the transaction in the comfort of their offices and homes without necessarily visiting the bank.

Previously they required to visit the bank and effect some transactions.

In a Twitter post FBC said, “ Dear valued customer to convert your COVID19 allowance ,kindly send a signed instruction with amount , your Nostro and ZWL account numbers to assistance @fbc.co.zw or app 0772303500.”

The online liquidation process probably is a progressive solution as most people are active on WhatsApp.

However , with the increase in data charges and less internet access interaction via email and WhatsApp can become a challenge for some.
