Event: Cloud Computing and Information Security Conference

By Toneo Tonderai Rutsito

July has seen lots of technological events lined up for Harare and this particular one has caught my interest.

The Cloud Computing and Information Security Conference Africa 2013, ( CCISC Africa) will be demystifying the concepts behind going cloud, to store  your data and accessing it remotely balancing it with real security issues associated  with going  cloud.

The issues of information security calls for greater attention with rampant attacks of networks exposing sensitive data to unknown assailants.

Tackling information security is of paramount importance to increase safety and reliability of online data transfer, the internet can not be perceived as a threat with current serious cyber attacks  and network fallouts, proper skills will have to be applied to enhance security.

There has also been great talk of Software as a Service (SaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) but the real uptake and the understanding of the technology in Zimbabwe has rather remained shrouded.

Cloud computing is still a new phenomenon not just in Zimbabwe but world over as the implementation has gradually accelerated with direct benefits already being realized like cost cutting, security, reliability and unlimited availability.

A full team of regional experts will be jetting in Harare to help enterprises and decision makers to fully understand and embrace the technology to help them move from the traditional ways of using technology as the world has rather  gone cloud to store and process data remotely at the click of a button.

Speaking to the,  CCISC Africa 2013 official, he said the 3 day event will be going Live  in Harare from the 24th to the 26th of July, few weeks from now.
