Emergent Research in association with Thomson Reuters will hold the inaugural Financial Markets Indaba under the theme “Ideas Creating a Future”. The much anticipated event co-organised by Clobrook Investments is being held on the 30th of June 2016 at the Meikles Hotel in Harare.
By Shingie Lev Muringi
300 attendees (local and international) are expected and 50 C-suite speakers will participate on nine panel discussions. This is a historic event expected to breathe life into the Zimbabwean economy which has been on a downward spiral in the past years witnessed by acrimonious numbers in business closures.
Emergent Research might be coming in as a timely angel to the Zimbabwean business fraternity, a battle ground that has not been yielding any considerable results considering the shortcomings of the ZIMASSET, an economic blueprint that has failed to entice foreign direct investors since its launch.
This gathering of thought leaders will address many of Zimbabwe’s most pressing economic challenges including: How financial markets innovation will help inject liquidity in the economy? What steps will inspire investor confidence and protection? Can we still raise global brands from Zimbabwean start-ups?
These and other issues can be summed up in the conference’s theme of “Ideas creating a future”. Suffice it to say, ideas and technological development are the driving engines of modern economies.
This one intensive but productive day hosts nine thought provoking panel discussions. Five proven experts will engage in a robust debate on each of the panels.
- Commodity Exchange – Catalyst for inclusive growth and liquidity?
- Venture capital- Financing the next Unicorns
- Equities markets-Have we hit the bottom?
- Infrastructure- Redefining Financing Strategies
- Asset class selection and allocation – Where will returns come from?
- Private equity – coming of age?
- Fire side Chat- Regulation and Investor Protection
- Fixed Income – New Financing Normal?
- Distressed debt investing: Junkyard or Hidden Treasure
The panel discussions will take place in two conference rooms, and attendees have to reserve a seat in advance for preferred panels.
