Finally Econet Wireless Zimbabwe has hinted that it will be rolling out the much anticipated credit airtime facility, months after their major competitor Telecel had unveiled the same initiative.
Just like their predecessor, Econet will not be giving much anyway, its only a mere 50cent, but this is so much when you are really stranded and you need to just quickly send that very important message across, for one reason or the other we all run out of airtime.
“This reaffirms our preparedness to ensuring that the needs of high value clients are identified and met”, a close source divulged.
To borrow airtime one will have to simply dial the Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) code *179#.
By the time we published the story the service was said to be not available after some retrials you would receive a message, Sorry, Your Request For Buddie Emergency Airtime has failed at this time, please try again later.
Since its still a pilot service there are some execution glitches after running the USSD but it seems the service is now available on the system awaiting the official roll out to the market
News was already filtering online with One Econet subscriber tweeting excitedly:
@Mutsvanga you are able to receive credit of $0.50 whenever you borrow. This needs to be paid back first in order to receive credit again.
