Econet data has been down since morning with many people complaining and raising concerns only about their Whatsapp not working, alas it is their whole data system.
When we called an Econet Wireless Zimbabwe Executive they confirmed of the position and they are yet to forward to us an official statement over the disruption of data services.
However we have just received an SMS update from their system stating that they are rectifying the problem.
Hey Buddies, sincere apologies for the interruption in data services. Our engineers are working tirelessly to rectify the fault and restore normal service.
While the problem seems to be only affecting their data platform, the voice platform has been perfectly well since morning, and their sister company ZOL Zimbabwe under Liquid Telecom is having perfect data through out.
This means the challenge seems to be that of their mobile GSM base stations, not the the last mile connectivity, hence the mobile phones can not connect..
