Econet Wireless Zimbabwe via their Ecocash Save brand, yesterday wooed a multitude, filling to capacity the Harare gardens arena as they held their grand finale draw giving away a total whooping of $200 000 in cash prizes to EcocashSave account holders, at an event dubbed Ecocash save waya waya promotion draw.
EcocashSave account holders, converts of Ecocacash users by simply registering via a USSD recently reported to have hit a million plus milestone, officially banking with Steward bank a subsidiary of Econet.
The draw saw 1000 Ecocash save customers winning $100 each, while a further 100 won $1 000 each, which was deposited straight into their Ecocash Save accounts.
This was the third and final draw, the first of which was held in Chitungwiza while the second was held in Bulawayo. A total of $200 000 was won and all it took to qualify was saving just $5 for 15 consecutive days in one’s Ecocash save account in a promotion that was launched in November 2013.
This means that Ecocash save has given away a total of $400 000 to it’s customers as $100 000 was won in the first draw in Chitungwiza, a further $100 000 won in the second draw in Bulawayo and the $200 000 won today in the grand draw.
Winners who were present were immediately given their prizes upon producing their IDs and the message from Ecocash Save, while those that were not present would receive messages informing them that they had won, as it wasn’t a prerequisite that one be present in order to win.
It seems mobile money transfer is growing in popularity by the day if the large crowd that attended the event is anything to go by.
If it wasn’t the music then it certainly had to be the money, as $200 000 was dished out to Ecocash save customers, with also instant prizes of caps and T-shirts given to lucky winners. The event was co-hosted by popular radio personalities Thabani Gambiza, Nokuthula Ndlovu and Faustina Chandisarewa, all from Radio Zimbabwe, kept the crowd thrilled with their chat prowess.
It was an action packed event at the Harare gardens today, as Ecocash held it’s grand and. Those that managed to sacrifice their weekend schedules were not disappointed as they were treated to mouth-watering performances by two of the country’s leading musicians, Jah Praizer and Sulumani Chimbetu.
Ecocash save is a value added service offering from Ecocash, were subscribers are now able to open savings accounts using their mobile phones without having to go to a bank, bringing convenience to millions who had been unbanked all along.
