The Deputy minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology development Honourable Godfrey Gandawa Officially Opened the 3 day Science , engineering and Technology week Exhibition Conference that wooed hundreds of Echibitors from the Educational ,Industry and Commerce which is running from the 8th to the 10th of October 2013.
The Minister Pledged that government under the indeginisation and empowerment act will see the development of Sciences and Technology and they are committed to fund projects that will impact the sector.

The Minister said” the theme for this year which is Science, Technology and innovation for sustainable development,augurs well with the country`s economic thrust and my party`s manifesto which encourages the indeginisation of the country`s entrepreneurship and economic development of the whole country and the creation of vast employment opportunities
Hon Gandawa said developing countries are losing a lot of minerals for centuries to countries with advanced mining technology which continue to extract our minerals for a song. “This must stop forthwith , i am urging our research and development institutions to find solutions to appropriate safe and affordable technology that can be used to extract and process our raw materials.
He also alluded that research that is attractive to industries is that which can be easily transformed into money and this can only be rendered possible whe the final product is marketable.
Tertiary instittuions should be involved in commercialising their own research and development outcomes and setting up of techno parks to easily sell out their products he urged.
