Dandemutande has appointed Michèle Scanlon as its Chief Executive Officer to lead the company in its next phase of growth. Dandemutande is one of Zimbabwe’s most prominent Internet Access Provider licensees.
The company was established in July 1997 and has become a trusted partner of Zimbabwean businesses through the provision of reliable and quality Internet services under its utande brand. Dandemutande launched uMAX in June 2012 as its first foray into the residential and SME market segment built on its own wireless infrastructure. uMAX won the coveted Ngoma Campaign of the Year Award in Zimbabwe’s annual advertising awards in April 2013.
Michèle Scanlon has over 15 years of telecoms experience working across Africa. Ms. Scanlon was previously Chief Commercial Officer of Mobitel, a WiMAX start-up in Nigeria, and was part of the advisory team to Dandemutande in 2012 that culminated in the successful launch of uMAX. Prior to her role in Nigeria, Ms. Scanlon worked in strategic consulting roles for leading telecoms operations and financial institutions looking to invest in the sector in Africa.
“We are pleased to welcome Michèle Scanlon as CEO of Dandemutande. She brings a wealth of international experience in growing new markets that will take Dandemutande to new heights as we embark on the next phase of expansion.”, said Mr. Joe Mutizwa, Chairman of the Board of Dandemutande. The appointment is effective of 1 November 2013.
Michèle Scanlon replaces Russell Clinton, one of the founding members of Dandemutande, who stepped down in 2012 for health reasons.
