Caps United football club, has become the first and only club in Zimbabwe to embrace technology with a cool and informative mobile app, that has certainly caught our attention.
Officially announced yesterday, the public relations officer with Caps united Joyce Kapote said that they are targeting more 20 000 fans to benefit from their mobile app as they complement their social network platform with a mobile app.
“We have recently launched a mobile app to deliver official information about Caps United football club, this application is set to grow tremendously as we target 20 000 users on the platform to benefit from this technology.”
The mobile app has relevant information as they provide the upcoming match fixtures, the current log standings, history, news and profiles for all the players, however the option to read player profile is only for subscribed users.
In a smart way, they have integrated the major online payment platform including Ecocash to allow their fans to buy or pay for the subscription which is only $1. They have also monetised the app with a plethora of adverts flashing right at the bottom of the page
The mobile application can be found here for download or under this website www.highwaycode.co.zw/caps.apk. ironically caps united have hosted this android application on a nother thirs party site, for obvious reasons they do not have a functional website if at all one is there.
Caps united also had no proper plan on how to easily distribute this app on the popular market as they locally host im=, instead it coukd have easily gone viral if they uploaded it on google play or itunes, as these platform also market related products.
