Plumtree residents are set to enjoy internet and some basic communication services as their white elephant Zimpost structure was officially converted into a Community Information Centre (CIC) and digital hub.
Officiating at the CIC opening ceremony, ICT Postal and Courier services minister Hon Supa Mandiwanzira said the facility would transform the lives of many inPlumtree as part of government’s efforts to connect everyone to the latest technologies.

“Today i have the honour to launch the plumtree CIC, a facility which as govenernment we strongly believe will not only transform lives here in Plumtree but will go beyond to bring along new forms of happiness as more and more people have a taste of digital life”
“We will not leave you alone in this journey rather we will walk together training and educating each other under the enhanced CIC programme until such a time when we are certain that as a community you have a mass sufficient knowledge to navigate the internet without falling prey to the vices that are embedded in this seemingly wonderful global asset of our time” said Minister Mandiwandira
He also urged the Zimbabwean youths take up the challenge to come up with ICT innovations that will light up the world developing applications under the CIC programme utilising the tirade of big data, virtual reality and artificial intelligence in creating a digital future for Zimbabwe and the world at large.
