The Zimbabwe Institution of Engineers (ZIE) regulated by The Engineering
Council of Zimbabwe (ECZ) under the Ministry of Local Government, Public
Works and National Housing in support with Zimbabwe Association of
Consulting Engineers, (ZACE) will be hosting the ZIE 10th Biennial congress 2019 from 24-27 September at Monomutapa Hotel Crown Plaza, Harare, under the theme: The Role of Engineering.
The Congress will bring together policymakers, practitioners, and
researchers to identify solutions for leapfrogging infrastructure
availability for supporting rapid economic growth, employment creation
and inequality in Zimbabwe and inspiring action towards sluggish change.
Speakers are drawn from various ministries, academia, built environment,
ICT and industry champions for a platform to bridge gaps between sectors, disciplines, policymakers, practitioners and researchers.
This is an Institution’s quest to participate in the implementation of the
Central Government’s infrastructural development call. Approximately,
three hundred delegates are expected to attend.
Engineers also recommend changes to construction and engineering laws, new materials and construction methods. Advances in modern technologies including ICT, robotics, science, and materials development have resulted in a large number of cost-effective and more durable materials, along with improved methods for infrastructure development and construction times.
Some of the speakers include Eng M Mvura, Eng K Dzwiti among many others.
