Academy Scoops Top Prize In OneMoney Fees Promotion


State-owned mobile phone operator, NetOne on Thursday presented prizes to Manicaland based, Bridging the Gap Academy and Chivhu’s Good Hope Junior School which participated and won first and second prizes respectively in the OneMoney Fees for Less Promotion at the company’s headquarters in Harare.

Bridging the Gap Academy won the top prize worth $30 000 with $20 000 prize money going towards the construction of a Computer Laboratory at the school and a generator.

Speaking at the OneMoney Fees for Less Promotion Winner’s Ceremony NetOne Acting Managing Director, Mobile Financial Services, Mr Nyaradzai Shoko said when OneMoney was launched the objective was to have a mobile money platform that would be embraced by everyone ultimately creating better and happier everyday lives for Zimbabweans.

“As OneMoney we stand firm in our promise and commitment to enabling financial inclusivity for all Zimbabweans through the provision of a safe, stable and reliable mobile financial service platform,” he said

NetOne Mobile Financial Services Chief added, “today we are here to rejoice with Bridging the Gap Academy and Good Hope Junior School who participated and won in our OneMoney Fees for Less Promotion.”

“Good Hope Junior School from Chivhu was the overall winner in the same competition last term, and they continue to be on the winners’ podium. Their continued support and use of the One Money system is testament of the financial inclusivity created by the payment platform,” said Mr Shoko

The winners are all holders of the biller codes into which payments were made and the promotion offered greater conveniences to both the schools and the parents.

Good Hope Junior School from Chivhu was the overall winner in the same competition last term.

Runners up Good Hope Junior School Deputy Headmaster, Mr Nyathi promised that by next year every parent will be using NetOne and so will all the community members. 

“We are at home with OneMoney, it offers us greater convinience and we are happy to be winners in the promotion despite coming second this time around.”
