By The Hadoop Bootcamp kicked off on Monday this week amid indications that not less than 40 students from across the country will be conferred with the Cloudera Big Data Analytics Certification at the University of Zimbabwe High Performance Centre in Harare.
This workshop is being held for the first time in the country and will be ending on Saturday April, 8 offering a combo of two courses which are Cloudera Apache Hadoop Adminstration (CCAH) and Cloudera Apache Hadoop Data Analysis (CCA Data Analyst.

The workshop is being co-hosted by the Great Zimbabwe University and the Zimbabwe Centre for High Perfomance Computing .
A facilitator from India Mr Sai Kumar Pillar will be sharing his knowledge with the 40 attendees. The workshop is meant to enrich their knowledge as well as enhance the attendee’s comprehension of this animal called Big Data Analytics.
Imagine a robot that is designed and programmed in English but can learn local languages and interact with human beings using local languages, that is, understand local languages and dialects and respond in the same while the same time able to translate the same into English or any other foreign language.’’
Application of such technology opens up new and exciting opportunities for research in the arts and culture space, with the know how of Big Data Analytics as a nation we can then use computers to extract meaning from different sets of data by combining them together as different layers on model.”

Collection of existing and new data and storing them in computers for future analysis and manipulation when new technology is developed presents an opportunity for today’s work to feed into future work.
This then helps the nation in preserving its indigenous languages and cultures and heritage as all these things will be stored and safe.
This also being not of help only to the attendees but also the various institutions and organizations they are representing and also the nation at large.In his conclusion while giving the open remarks the vice Chancellor of Great Zimbabwe University Professor R.J Zvobgo alluded that ,’
