State-owned telecommunications company, TelOne donated 100 bins and 2000 tree seedlings to Great Zimbabwe University yesterday as part of the company’s initiative drive to be a sustainable business that cares about the society.
Speaking at the handover ceremony at Great Zimbabwe University in Masvingo, TelOne Divisional Director Retail Mr Machiva said that the company was running a ‘Provide a Bin’ campaign geared towards supporting cleanliness and having a zero tolerance to litter.
“We are running several programmes among which we have the “Provide a bin” campaign through which we have so far provided more than 2000 bins to citizens in different towns countrywide,” said Mr Machiva.
The bins that TelOne donated were fabricated by their internal staff at factories in Bulawayo and Harare. Mr Machiva said that the company supports cleanliness and holds a zero tolerance to litter.
“The objective of the bin donation is to support cleanliness and a zero tolerance to litter,”added Mr Machiva.
The telecommunication company handed over the tree seedlings to the geography Department.
“The 2000 tree seedlings will be handed over to the Geography Department for planting at the university campuses and other sites,” said Mr Machiva.
In giving remarks, Great Zimbabwe University acting Pro Vice Chancellor, Dr. Chindaya said that Great Zimbabwe University shared the same values with TelOne of impacting the society positively.
“We share the same values as TelOne, that is to have a positive impact on the society,” said Dr. Chindaya.
