“The whole objective of creating jobs this way is about empowerment. It’s about reimagining work. It’s about reimagining employment. You don’t employ a thousand people by finding buildings for them; you employ a thousand people by finding work for their minds,” said Econet Wireless Chief Operating Officer, Fayaz King during the official  launch of the product in Harare.

The program is targeting to register at least 25000 youths between the ages of 16 and 34 in the first year .

He also noted that, unlike the school system, the general terms of employment merely reward attendance other than recognizing results, talent, ingenuity and initiative.

With the VCC, agents will earn on commission, based on the sales they would have made; thus, they will be rewarded based on results and not mere attendance.

Agents can work from anywhere in Zimbabwe as long as they are connected to the Econet network,  Econet will be  proving the service to those who would have signed up.

Elevate Head Jonathan Neshena
