Econet launches Smart Data Network Campaign

Econet Wireless Zimbabwe has launched the Smart Data Network Campaign aimed to promote internet usage and enhance customer experience.
Econet chief executive officer Douglas Mboweni told journalists they continue to cater for the customer’s needs.

Broadband has become a significant revenue for the business but our objective at all times has been around the customer. So we constantly watch that the customer needs and we rearrange ourselves  to make sure that those needs are satisfied.

“Now what have we put in place to make sure that the customer needs are satisfied number one is the network, and that is why we have invested so much in the network, your 3G your 4G and ad we continue to do so,” he said.
He added, “We are saying to the user, the infrastructure is now in place, for you to use the applications, your usage requirements, we as a network have understood your requirements and have put together, pieces that are required to drive those requirements in a convenient seamless  manner.”

“Customers have access to affordable Smart phones from our device partners. They can browse, stream or download via our 3G and 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network,” he said.

LTE is a 4G wireless communications standard that is designed to provide up to 10 times the speeds of 3G networks for mobile devices such as tablets, smartphones, notebooks and wireless hotspots.

“Econet is the only mobile network operator whose LTE network is certified by Apple. In addition, Samsung has endorsed Econet as the data network partner and an authorized reseller for Samsung phones in Zimbabw,” said  General Manager – Marketing at Econet Wireless Zimbabwe Mellany Msengezi.
Mboweni also said, “The Smart Data campaign that we launch today is a culmination of our recent conclusion of the network modernisation project which resulted in us deploying over 400 new LTE sites and upgrading over 250 others. Most importantly, this development is in line with our vision to connect our customers, who remain the backbone of our success, with the latest broadband technology across the country.”
He said this campaign is meant to raise awareness of the vast opportunities at the disposal of Econet customers when they access the Internet on our Smart Data Network. “Customers have access to affordable Smart phones from our device partners. They can browse, stream or download via our 3G and 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network,” he said.
Econet’s LTE network speed ranges between 26 and 42.64Mps in Harare. The Smart Data Network campaign will be hyped through video, print electronic and outdoor advertisements.
