Harare Technocrats Honored at Zim ICT Innovations Showcase

Three Harare based ICT innovators emerged victorious at the second leg of the Zimbabwe ICT Innovation fund showcase organised by the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ) in Harare, last night. 

In a tightly contested competition at the Harare International Conference Centre where at least 80 innovators from Harare showcased their innovations, the adjudicators, panelists and audience were impressed by the three talented technocrats who gave flawless pitches about their innovations.

Clinching the top spot was Clive Nyapokoto’s Shift Organic Technologies who walked away with a laptop with TelOne offering 10 GB Public WiFi data as well as ADSL internet access for his agritech innovations.

The first prize winners were also given caps and two Solar Panels which came from Econet Wireless while Powertel gave them HTC Handsets activated with free voice calls and data for two months. Telecel Zimbabwe chipped in with a flash drive.

Clive Nyapokoto is one of the young technocrats who have been doing wonders at the Harare Institute of Technology. His rise to stardom recently came when  his Vermi-Acquaponics project won the Energy Global Award in South Africa outshining other innovations exhibited by students from other countries. The viability of his smart tech-driven agricultural system is now visible after Clive has now made strides in commercializing the VA System.

The second runners up, Road Rules led by an app developer Tawanda Chikosi received a laptop, HTC Handset, 10GB TelOne Public WiFi  data, and USB warmer.
