Zimbabwe will be hosting one of the largest ICT gathering on the continent, the Innovation Africa Digital Summit (IAD) 2015 which is now in its 13th year. The IAD summit aims to support the sustainable growth of telecom and ICT sectors to the benefit of Africa as a whole.
The purpose of the IAD Summit is to provide essential support services to Policy Makers, Regulators, Service Providers, Major End Users and Solution Providers to the African Telecom and ICT ecosystem and achieve industry development, business development, leadership development and trade facilitation across the sector.

Over 3 days from 14th to 16th of April in Vic Falls the Ministry of ICT, Postal and Courier Services, led by Honourable Cde Supa Mandiwanzira will be sharing its support for wider ethical and sustainable ICT growth across Africa.
The event will provide Zimbabwe an invaluable opportunity to showcase cross sector operational functionality and the enviroment for inward investment in all the participating sectors and not restricted to ICT sector. It is a vital platform to share ideas, learn of the latest developments and form powerful partnerships in supporting the growth of the ICT sector whilst promoting Zimbabwe’s ICT projects.
The Ministry of ICT, Postal and Courier Services and the Government of Zimbabwe will enjoy unparalleled levels of exposure to the international business community, intergovernmental agencies, investors and the ICT community at large. Extensia will be running advisory clinics throughout the IAD Summit, offering IAD attendees with the opportunity to attend private, 20 minute consultations, free of charge, in various business areas of interest.
The IAD Summit will attract up to approximately 500 participants from across Africa and the rest of the world. These include Policy Makers, Regulators, Service Providers and Major End Users from the public and private sectors, who will be introduced to Infrastructure Providers, Value Added Service Providers, Consultants, Investors and other key stakeholders
The immediate past hosts, Gambia and Ethiopia found tangible benefits with respect to the governments’ key objectives.
For Gambia, it was the exposure of the local ICT community to international best practices and solution providers which resulted in the licencing of LTE to a local ISP provider. Wireless connectivity and network optimization equipment was donated free of charge to connect the State University Campus. The National Investment Agency revealed their National objectives to the International Investor Community and attracted un-precedented levels of interest. Bi-lateral cooperative agreements were signed between the governments of Gambia and Uganda, Sudan and South Sudan.
For Ethiopia, their objective of attracting large international technology providers resulted in Oracle, SES, IBM, Samsung, SAP and others setting up regional headquarters in Ethiopia’s newly built ICT Park on the outskirts of Addis. The summit also encouraged MTN and Vodacom to set up local offices, and to engage actively in ICT initiatives in the country despite the fact that no licenses are yet available for them to be fully operational. Since the last two annual IAD Summits in Ethiopia, ZTE and Huawei have made major investments in Ethiopia with up to US$1.6 billion being invested into the ICT infrastructure.
