Netone partners Manyuchi to give orphans an early Christmas

Netone has partnered local boxer Charles Manyuchi to give orphans at Mother of Peace community in Mutoko an early Christmas.

The country’s second-largest mobile network operator had a team in Mutoko yesterday were they donated groceries and sanitary wear. Staff and children expressed joy, saying they had started receiving less help as the economic situation deteriorated.

‘’As Netone we are the network that cares and when we see an opportunity to assist and bring change we play our part. So despite the economic conditions, downturn or not we are here to stay,’’ said Robson Mafongoya, Commercial Manager for Netone Zone 3.

One of the companies which are partners of the Charles Manyuchi foundation, Phil-Jen Lodges were represented and also made a donation. The event was graced by community leaders such as Chief Mutoko, headmasters and local churches.

Manyuchi said his passion for helping others is what led him to partner Netone. He also started a boxing academy. Manyuchi failed to hold his tears as he was talking about how no one is an island and it took a helping hand for him to be where he is now.

‘’For me to be where I am and even get the recognition I get here and the world over it is because someone decided to help me hence I also partner with companies like Netone to also help the next person.’’

Netone staff also helped prepare and serve lunch to the jovial crowd. One Julie Jen who was raised at the center was teary as she expressed her sincere gratitude to Netone and mentioned that their storeroom was close to empty and this gesture was indeed an answer to their prayers.

Netone has always been a significant partner within the nation’s sporting fraternity as they believe sport cuts across ethnicity, class and color. Netone says it will continue to assist the underprivileged as they have also been donating throughout the country and plan to continue doing so.

Previously they have donated to Chinhoyi Kwekwe and Gokwe hospitals.
