Social media giant Facebook, yesterday announced that they are introducing a new logo for Facebook.Inc to distinguish the corporate parent from its applications.
The logo is supposed to be put to use in the “coming weeks” within Facebook products and marketing materials.
According to Facebook, the new logo uses custom typography and is “designed for clarity,” with the goal of creating a “visual distinction between the company and app.”
The new ‘Facebook’ logo was announced through an official blog post alongside a GIF of it in various different colours representing the different platforms that Facebook owns.
‘We needed the wordmark to establish distinction from the Facebook app and allow for a clearer connection to the full family of technologies,’ wrote Antonio Lucio, Facebook’s chief marketing officer.
